Teacher Guidelines
1) Makes sure that you have the appropriate number of software licenses per computer.
2) Do not use school software for personal computers.
3) Do not post any personal information or pictures about students.
4) Be sure to preview websites or other materials that will be used during lessons before allowing students to access them.
5) Understand whether materials used in the classroom falls under fair use or public domain so that you can follow legal copyright guidelines about instructional use.
6) Make sure to be a good model for students by following the Internet safety guidelines for students as well your own.
7) Monitor student use of computers at all times.
8) Do not use school computers for personal use such as checking emails, browsing, or social networking.
9) Make sure that there is some type of software installed on classroom computers that will block objectionable or inappropriate material.
10) 10) Do not use the Internet or other media to establish inappropriate contact with students in any way.
11) 11) Be sure that computers are protected by a firewall and antivirus software.
12) 12) Be conscious of any cyberbullying going on in the classroom.
13) 13) Safeguard all passwords.
14) 14) Place computers where monitors can be observed easily.
15) 15) Limit online time to encourage students to stick closely to learning goals.
16) 16) Demonstrate for students appropriate search strategies and review responsible use practices.




Internet Safety Guidelines for Students in Classroom

1) Be polite and use appropriate and non-offensive language.
2) Do not use the network for commercial or profit purposes.
3) Respect copyright and licensing agreements by appropriately citing the material when needed.
4) Use online time efficiently.
5) Do not delete, copy, modify, or forge other users names, emails, files, or software.
6) Send only appropriate and school-related emails.
7) Do not give out your own or others’ private information, such as address, phone, or passwords.
8) Do not harass or plagiarize others on the Internet.
9) Do not vandalize equipment, electronic files, or willfully spreading computer viruses.
10) 10) Do not access, download, or transmit obscene or harmful materials.
11) 11) Only access sites for educational purposes.
12) 12) Do not use the network in ways which violate school policies and behavior standards.
13) 13) Do not enter chat rooms or social networking sites.

It is important to remember that the Internet is a privilege. Any inappropriate use of the Internet or digital technology will result in a cancelation of those privileges.
